A community of believers

Zion's means "a waymark", and the old mountain gained that name because it stood out in such a way that people could navigate by it.

Here at the Mount, we are a group of people who have committed to this mission of the waymark, pointing the way to Jesus and helping others navigate this life through Him, here in Haywood County and around the world.

Rooted in history

For over a hundred and fifty years, Mount Zion has existed for the worship and glory of God, preaching of the good news of Jesus, and discipling each other through community.

Growing together

Whether you're seeking a place to worship, a community to belong to, or a way to grow in your faith, Mount Zion welcomes you with open arms. Join us as we come together to experience God's grace, share the truth of the Gospel, and make a positive impact in our community and beyond. Come, be part of our journey, and let's walk together in faith.

What is

"The Mount"?

At Mount Zion Baptist Church (the Church in the Mount), everything we do is rooted in the love and teachings of Jesus Christ, guided by the timeless truth of the Bible. We're a close-knit, warm community that holds fast to our Baptist heritage and genuinely welcomes everyone—no matter where you are on your spiritual journey—to come explore faith with us.

We believe salvation comes through a personal confession of Jesus as Lord, which opens the door to a real, life-changing relationship with Him and our Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit. We joyfully celebrate this new life with believer's baptism by full immersion. It's a beautiful picture of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection—and our own dying to sin, being buried with Him, and rising to walk in newness of life as part of His family.

With hearts wide open, we seek to live out Jesus' commands every day: loving and caring for others, sharing the compassion and hope of the Gospel, and making a difference right here in our community and beyond.

We'd love for you to come be part of our family as we grow in faith, serve together, and love one another!

The primary Bible translation we use in preaching is the New King James Version (NKJV). If we reference other versions during a service, we'll note them.
